Yakakent - Stock Breeding
In Yakakent District, there are 13 villages and 4 quarter mukhtars depending on the center.
Excluding the centers, the stock breeding is more valuable than the agriculture, because many villages as settlements are placed on higher altitude.
In our district, there are 1.274 animal plants that contain 5.200 bovine and 11.200 ovine.
In our establishments, mostly the bovine animals are fed and these are family businesses of 6 or 7 heads. Especially the milk among the other products that our farmers produce is consumed within the family and cannot be turned into an economically valued product because there are not any milk processing facilities and milk collecting tanks. Only from the sales of the animals for the butchery and sacrificing, the income is gained.
Many ovine animal plants have the capacity of 100-200 animals. The milk that is produced in these establishments is put on sale after the cheese is made of that milk under the home conditions. What is more, our farmers gain income from the sales of the animals for the butchery and sacrificing.
