The Economic Significance Of Stock Breeding In Bafra
In Bafra, the stock breeding establishments are mostly family type establishments and have sufficient animal stocks to provide themselves. In the district, also the fishery is quite developed. While the fish that are caught in fish lakes are given to the domestic market, the crayfish that have been caught since 1985 are sold to also abroad.
AQUACULTURAL RESOURCES IN BAFRA
Bafra, thanks to its position, has a broad range as both fresh water fishery and offshore fishery with Kızılırmak, Dam Lakes, Fish Lakes and its coast to Black Sea.
In Altınkaya and Derbent Dam Lakes within the borders of our district, there are fish like carp, catfish and trout that have economic value. In Derbent Dam Lake, there are 7 establishments that make trout aquaculture as culture fishing. The capacity of these establishments as adult fish is 920.000 kg annually. The capacity as seed fish is 3.680.000 pieces annually. Also, there are seed fish production plants belonging to these establishments.
There are 2 licensed carp plants in Doğanca Town of our district.
In Bafra, there are 1 Amateur Fishers Association and 7 Aquacultural Resources Cooperatives that produce aquacultural resources.
In Bafra, 33 large and small Fish Lakes (Cernek Lake, Ulu Lake, Liman (Harbor) Lake, Gıcı Lake, Uzun (Long) Lake, Mülk Lake, etc.) and Karaboğaz Fish Lake. In Bafra fish lakes, production is made in a broad range from carp to grey mullet, from zander (dace) to crayfish, from frog to reed mace (reed) and blood sucker. The annual production amount of the aquacultural resources that are caught from the fish lakes is below:

Kızılırmak disembogues to the Black Sea within the borders of our district. Kızılırmak is one of the most important water courses that feed the Black Sea.
