Alaçam - Tourism

HISTORICAL BUILDINGS
There are 63 registered historical buildings in the district. 3 of them are offices, 1 is fountain, 1 is mosque, 1 is Turkish bath and 57 of them are mansions and houses.


GEYİKKOŞAN BABA MAUSOLEUM
There are many rumors about “Geyikkoşan Baba Mausoleum” in the coppice forest near the seaside of our district. The person lying here is believed to have lived 600-700 years ago. The area of the recreation spot and Geyikkoşan Baba Mausoleum, which is visited by the townspeople and the visitors from the districts around and Samsun, is an important property in terms of belief tourism.



WRESTLING
Oil wrestling is a highly demanded sports branch in our district. The traditional oil wrestling matches, which are organized in Hıdırellez (old Turkish celebration of spring) feasts on the 6th May, are attended by the wrestlers from the region and throughout Turkey. It is important for our district in terms of sports tourism.



COAST
Alaçam has a big potential with its 17 km coastline in terms of sea tourism. Also, our district that is rich in historical buildings will possess great importance in terms of historical and cultural tourism after the restoration works are completed here.
